Mr. Tsang Wai Wah Martin, a final year student in this department, has won the CUHK Vice-Chancellor's Cup of Student Innovation 2005 (VCCI2005), Undergraduate Category, Individual Entries. The topic of his project is "Design and Realization of a Virtual Mouse in an Embedded System".

Mr. Tsang has also won the Gold Award in the Engineering Faculty FYP competition.

The BME group has won the Championship of VCCI2005, Postgraduate Group Entries. The project name is "A Novel Wearable Wireless Device for the Monitoring of Multiple Physiological Signals". Click here for a brief description of their work.

Three students of our department have been chosen as the 2nd Place Winners of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2005 Competition in software design. Their team (CUSpeech) has realized a low cost visual-audio video conferencing system (SVCOM) for third world countries features state of the art speech technologies.

Congratulations to our Winners !

Mr. An Jin, supervised by Prof. J.B. Xu, has won the Best Poster Award from ICMAT2005 (International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies). The title was Electrical and Photonic Properties of CsS Nanoribbon Devices. For more information, the Best Poster Award was very competitive, because there were more than 1500 posters and 25 symposia, and each symposium could only select ONE. In Symposium G (Nanodevices and Nanofabrication) where An Jin's one was presented, there were about 100 posters. The Award was conveyed by President of National University of Singapore with the presence of 2 Nobel Laureates. NUS intends to be the best 10 universities in the world in next decade or beyond. Besides, there were more than 2200 delegates from more than 50 countries, including 3 Noble Laureates.

"e-challenge" is a business plan competition organized by the Young Entrepreneurs Development Council (www.ydc.org.hk ). This year, e-challenge has achieved a record high number of entries. The organiser received 137 proposals submitted from 180 teams coming from all local universities. CUHK students won the top 2 prizes. In fact, this is the second year engineering students formed teams with MBA students and won the e-challenge.

Mr. NG Chong Chon, MPhil student from the Microwave Lab, has won the 1st - Runner UP in the "Young Members Exhibition/Conference 2005 in the Postgraduate Section organised by the IEE Hong Kong Younger Members Section among a lot of top students from well-known universities around the world. The winning title is: Ultra Low Power 2.4GHz CMOS Dual-Modules Prescaler Design
