Lee Sim Heung, B. Eng. and M. Phil. graduate in the optoelectronics group, has been awarded a full scholarship to study towards a Ph.D degree in Photonics at the University of Cambridge, under the supervision of Prof. Ian White.

Xu Lin has been awarded the Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence CNOOC Grants at University of Cambridge for 4 months. (proposed period: 15/5/2009-15/9/2009).

FOK Mable Mei Po has won the Award for the Best Research Output by Research Postgraduate Student 2007-2008!

Dai Yong Heng Denver has won the Best Paper Award at the 9th IEEE LEOS (HK) Postgraduate Conference held on November 29, 2008 at the City University of Hong Kong. The awarded paper ise entitled:

'Polarization-insensitive delay-asymmetric nonlinear loop mirror for variablebit-rate DPSK demodulation" by Yongheng Dai, Mable P. Fok, and Chester Shu.

The Award for the Best Research Output by Research Postgraduate Students is nominated annually by each Faculty to recognize research postgraduate students with commendable research achievements during their studies. The Award consists of a plaque and a cash prize of HK$25,000.

There will be a prize presentation ceremony later.
