Gao Yun, Zhang Honghui, PhD students supervised by Prof. Chester Shu, and Dr. Wu Xinru, Postdoctoral staff, supervised by Prof. Tsang Hon Ki received the Women in Optical Communications honors in the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference held at San Diego, CA, USA on 3 - 7 March 2019.

The project by Ng Si Ioi (BEng Year 4) and Jiang Yi (MSc Year 1) won the 1st Prize in ICT Category and Innovation Award of the 2018 Challenge Cup (Hong Kong). Their project is titled "An Efficient Assessment Tool for Child Speech Disorders Based on Intelligent Speech Technology".

Dr. LI, Daxiang, an EE PhD alumnus supervised by Prof. PUN, Kong Pang and currently working at Huawei, won a Best Paper Award at the International SoC Design Conference held from November 5 to 7, 2017 in Seoul, Korea, with the paper “Continuous-time Delta-Sigma modulator with an upfront passive-RC low-pass network”.

The Final-Year Project of Ng Si Ioi (EE graduate of 2018) won the Gold Prize in the 2018 HKEIA Innovation & Technology Project Competition Award organized by the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association. The project title is "Detection and Screening of Cantonese Child Speech Sound Disorder Using Automatic Speech Recognition Techniques". Ng Si Loi also won the 1st Prize in ICT Category and Innovation Award of the 2018 Challenge Cup (Hong Kong).

Dr. YUAN, Yixuan obtained PhD degree in the EE department at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), advised by Prof. MENG, Max Qing Hu in July 2016. She was a Postdoc Fellow in the EE department at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for half a year and currently a post-doctoral research fellow at Stanford Medical School. She received the HKIS 2017 Young Scientist Award in Engineering Science category, competing with other 43 applicants.
