Student Awarded ESET NOD32 Scholarship 2008/9
Our undergraduate year 2 student, Miss Kou Wai Chu, has been awarded the ESET NOD32 Scholarship for 2008/9. Students receiving the scholarship have attained good academic results and demonstrated records in local community services or outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities.

Li Pak Wing, MPhil student from the Microwave Lab (supervisor: Prof. Michael Cheng) has been awarded the 1st-Runner-Up of the IET (HK) YMEC 2009 (Postgraduate Section) held on July 12, 2009. This title of his presentation is Novel Microwave Power Divider Circuits with Unequal Dividing Ratio and Simple Layout. The Award consists of a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate. Younger Members Exhibition and Conference (YMEC) is an annual event, at which students from the local tertiary institutions will present their projects or research works.
Hung Wing Hung and Lam Ho have recently been awarded the Gold Award for the Hong Kong RFID Awards U-21 RFID Awards 2009 (Undergraduate Stream). Their project titled "A Smart RFID System for Logistics Application".
The award will be presented at the GS1 Hong Kong Supply Chain Management (SCM) Excellence Summit to be held on November 10, 2009 at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

Gordon K. P. Lei was awarded the IEEE Best Student Paper Award at the 14th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference (OECC 2009) held at Hong Kong, July 13 - 17, 2009. The paper was entitled "Conversion of 40 Gb/s OTDM to 4×10 Gb/s WDM Channels with Extinction Ratio Enhancement by Pump-Modulated Four-Wave Mixing Using Time- and Wavelength-Interleaved Laser Pulses" by Gordon K. P. Lei and Professor Chester Shu.
Two MPhil students, Mr Li Pak-Wing and Miss Meng Meng, have recently won the first- and third-prize in the IEEE (HK) AP/MTT Postgraduate Conference held on 24 October 2009, with paper entitled: "A new unequal power-divider design with enhanced insertion loss flatness" and "An analytical approach to computer aided diagnosis of lossy microwave coupled resonator filters", respectively. Conference participants include research students from HK and mainland universities.
