Resume of Career

Jiewen Lai received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2022. Prior to that, he earned a master’s degree in mechanical and automation engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017. From April 2022 to June 2023, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at CUHK. In August 2023, he joined the electronic engineering department as a Research Assistant Professor under the University Research Committee Research Assistant Professorship Scheme.

He was a recipient of the IdeaBooster Fund Award (2023), Dr. Barbara Kwok Young Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Grants Award (2023), Best Poster Award of IEEE ICRA (2023), and Best Paper Finalist Award of IEEE ROBIO (2019). He has authored/co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed research papers. He also serves as a guest editor for Actuators (2023) and a frequent reviewer for several IEEE transactions, journals, and conference proceedings.
