Prof. ZHANG Yuan Ting received 2014 IEEE-SA Emerging Technology Award in last December. This award is presented to Prof. Zhang for his outstanding contribution and leadership as Chair of the IEEE P1708 Working Group in facilitating the creation of the first IEEE standard on wearable cuffless blood pressure measuring devices.
Ho, Kai Mak, Ph.D. student, and Bu, Shi, M.Phil. student, both supervised by Prof. Leung Ka Nang, won the Best Paper Awards at the 2014 IEEE Student Symposium on Electron Devices & Solid-State Circuits held on Dec. 5 2014 in Hong Kong. Their papers are entitled “Optimizations of Scaling Factor and Stage Number of a STCB Amplifier” by MAK Kai Ho, Leung Ka Nang and GOH Wang Ling, and “Optimization of Load Regulation for Low-Dropout Regulators” by Bu Shi and Leung Ka Nang, respectively.
The 2014 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2014), which is an extensive independent peer-assessment of research performance across the university sector in Hong Kong, found that within the Electrical and Electronic Engineering discipline, The Chinese University of Hong Kong had more than twice the sector-wide average of 10% in the top category of 4* (world leading) research.
Dr. XU, Ke, supervised by Prof. Tsang Hon Ki, won the 2014 Hong Kong Institution of Science (HKIS) Young Scientist Award in the category of Engineering Science and received the top prize of HK$10,000. The HKIS annual conference was held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on 8 Nov 2014.
