Professor Ni Zhao

Ni Zhao received her Ph.D degree in Physics from the University of Cambridge (UK) in 2008. From 2008-2010 she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). Her work at MIT involved developing novel hybrid solar cell structures that incorporate colloidal nanocrystal quantum dots with organic and inorganic materials, and using these structures to study electronic processes in solar cells. Prior to MIT she worked in the Optoelectronic Group at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, UK. Her PhD dissertation was focused on device physics of polymer based field-effect transistors, charge transport mechanism at organic semiconductor/ dielectric interface and nanoscale patterning using inkjet-printing technique. During her M.S Degree, Zhao worked in the Xerox Research Center of Canada on novel semiconducting polymers and their applications in field-effect transistors. Ni Zhao joined the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in December 2010.

Mengyu Chen graduated from Ni's group as a Ph.D. in 2015. She received her B.S. in optoelectronics technology and sciencefrom Tianjin University and M.S. in optoelectronics from Chinese University of Hong Kong. Now she is working on the colloidal Quantum Dots based semiconductor devices.

Hui Yu joined Ni's group as a Ph.D. candidate in 2012. He received his B.S. in materials science and engineering from Central South University in 2008 and his M.S. in materials science and engineering from Tsinghua University in 2012. Now his research interests involve organometal halide perovskite materials and colloid quantum dots for optoelectronic application.

Shuang Zhou received her B.S. degree in Department of Chemistry from Tsinghua University in 2011; and Ph.D degree in Electronic Engineering, CUHK in 2016. Since then, she has been working as a Research Associate under Prof. Wong and Prof. Zhao. Her Ph. D thesis was focused on graphene and hybrid perovskite materials for electronic and electrochemical devices. Now she is working on hybrid energy storage and bio-sensors.

Dr. Xiaorong Ding joined Ni's group as a postdoc research assistant in September 2016. She received her Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2016 with her dissertation on novel method for cuffless blood pressure measurement. She received the B.S. and M.Eng. both in biomedical engineering from Chongqing University, China in 2009 and 2012, respectively. Prior to CUHK, she worked as a technical engineer at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, China and research assistant at Key Laboratory for Health Informatics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (HICAS) at SIAT, Shenzhen, China. Her research interests are in physiological signal processing and modeling, wearable medical devices, and cardiovascular health informatics.

Dr. Zhilin Tian

Dr. Zhilin Tian joined Ni's group as a senior research assistant in2016. He received B.S in metallurgical engineering from Central SouthUniversity and Ph.D. in materials science from Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Now he is working on thermal interface material.

Dr. Cuiping Han joined Ni's group as a senior research assistant (Hong Kong Scholar Program) in 2015. She holds a B.S. in Materials Formation and Control Engineering from China University of Petroleum and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University. Now she is working on energy storage devices like lithium ion batteries and supercapacitors.

Suling Shen joined Ni's group as a Ph.D. candidate in 2013. She received her B.S. in Beijing University of Chemical Technology and M.S. in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Her research is focused on surface nanostructuring of silicon and its application in energy devices.

Junling Xu joined Ni's group as a research assistant in 2013 and now he is a Ph. D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Ni Zhao and Prof. Ching-Ping Wong. He received B.E. from University of Jinan in 2010 and M.E. from Shandong University in 2012. Prior to CUHK he was a research assistant at City University of Hong Kong. Now he is studying the diffusion/migration process and kinetics of electrode reaction for electrochemical energy storage cells.

Peng Su received the B.S. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China in 2015, and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research centers around machine learning and its applications in internet of things for healthcare. In particular, he is developing intelligent system that leverage data-driven techniques to monitor, understand and predict human health.

Dr. Ting Xiao is now join Prof. Zijian Zheng’s group, Institute of Textiles and Clothing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was a PhD student in Ni’s group during 2011 to 2016 and her research interests focused on morphological and electronic correlations, including in-situ probing of charge dynamics and extracting 3D morphological parameters.

Dr. Feng Wang is holding a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellowship at Linköping University in Sweden. He worked in Ni's group as a senior research assistant during 2012 to 2016, and his research focus was on hybrid solar cells.
