Rules

The LEL tennis ladder is open to all members of the LEL Lab and invited guests, and is played according to the following rules:
  1. Each match consists of a single set of tennis.
  2. A match may be either singles or doubles.
  3. Points are awarded to players as follows:
    • for each match played:- 6 points;
    • for a win:- 3 points;
    • for the score:- 1 point per difference in the number of games won.

    For example, a 6-4 win results in 6 + 3 + 2 = 11 points being awarded to the winner, and 6 – 2 = 4 points being awarded to the loser.

  4. Players are ranked according to average number of points scored per match.
  5. A player may not play against the same opponent(s) or with the same doubles partner more than three times in any two-calendar-week period.

The current competition will end on December 31, 2005.  The winner will have the honor of buying the other ladder members New Year dinner!
