Student Paper Competition

A Student Paper Competition (SPC) will be held at the APBME'2000. The competition will be open to any young investigators who are presenting research findings that were part of their thesis or dissertation. The presenter must either be currently enrolled as a student, or have received the terminal degree within a year of the Conference.

By June 1, 2000, all SPC abstracts must be submitted to the APBME
Conference Secretariat with a clear statement of "SPC submission" in the
subject line of the e-mail submission. The author should state in the e-mail that the abstract is being submitted for Student Paper Competition, and whether the same abstract has been submitted on-line separately.

By July 31, 2000, a 2-pages paper must be submitted together with a letter of eligibility from the author's sponsor identifying the institution. The
full papers will be reviewed and scored for clarity, scientific quality, and effectiveness of presentation.

At the Conference, all SPC papers will be presented in regular scientific sessions. Volunteer judges will attend the student presentations, and their scoring will consider communication effectiveness in addition to the quality and significance of the research.

The awardees of the SPC will be announced and certificates of awards presented before the closing of the APBME'2000.
