Objective

This course is designed for students to gain an understanding of communication processes involved in body sensor networks and also how medical data is acquired and organized through the hospital information system. Recent advances in selected topics including terahertz imaging will also be discussed.

By the end of the course, students should be able to

  • Have a basic knowledge of the electrical principles underlying action potential propagation and muscle response.
  • Have an overall picture of the HIS, PACS and the technological advances which have been made.
  • Understand the role of telehealth care and be aware of its applications.
  • Understand the different imaging techniques used to acquire medical image data.
