Resume of Career
Mr. Henry Cheung graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Division of Engineering Science, with a major in digital control and analog -digital conversion. He attained the qualification of Master of Business Administration from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Cheung worked in Canada involved in various signalling systems projects around the world. He returned to Hong Kong in 1992joiningthe MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), responsible for the signalling system replacement works and the Airport Railway project. He later joined the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) responsible for the West Rail signalling system project and the management of the KCRC signal and communication systems. In 2008 he started consulting works for the railway companies and suppliers in the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Cheung is currently head of Thales Transport and Security (Hong Kong) Limited.
Mr. Cheung has twenty-year experience in signalling system design, project management and railway operations. He lectured for the Institution of Engineering and Technology on railway engineering and electromagnetic interference. He also published papers on the above subjects as well as on signalling systems and project management. He is a guest lecturer for the University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and the Singapore Polytechnic.
Mr. Cheung is a Registered Professional Engineer (Electronics and Control, Automation& Instrumentation); Chartered Engineer; Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada; Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology; Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers; Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers; and member of the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council. He is also actively involved in the profession: being the past Chairman of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineering and Technology Hong Kong; past Chairman of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Electronics Division; executive member of the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council, committee of the Railway Signal Engineers Hong Kong Branch; the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Electronics Professional Advisory Panel; Divisional Advisory Panel for the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, University of Hong Kong; and a member of the Smart City Expert Group led by the Legislation Council of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
