Electronics Innovation Award 2009

The department has a vision to promote general education of technology to Hong Kong secondary students. Every year, we organize a competition on innovative applications of micro-controllers in our daily life and invite all secondary schools to participate. “Electronics Innovation Award” was held with the aims of raising electronic technology interest and encouraging original invention.

“Electronics Innovation Award 2009” was successfully held on 21 Feb 2009. It is the forth time that the department co-hosted the event with the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers and the Electronics Technology Education Association (H.K.). This year, over 40 teams from 31 schools joined the activity. Participants were asked to use a pre-assigned micro-controller integrated circuit and its peripheral electronics to perform functions in relation to their designated tasks. The competition had two categories, including “Leisure and Entertainment Applications” and “Creative Applications”. Each participating team brought along their fabricated model to show a panel of judges composed of invited guests from industry and professors in the department. For this year, three new prizes, including “Best Proposal Award”, “Best Environmental Friendly Design” and “Best Commercial Value” were awarded. Secondary students brought creativity into full play in the competition.
