ITF Grant - Prof. NGAN, King Ngi

Prof Ngan has been awarded an ITF Funding of HK$967,472 for his project.

Project Title: Interesting Object Recognition System

The project is to develop techniques that are effective and accurate in recognizing interesting objects from images in an unsupervised manner. Interesting object recognition has great potential in a large number of application areas, including object search engine, image summarization and retrieval, video monitoring and surveillance, computer vision and digital media entertainment. Three key techniques, namely learning model for object classification, object segmentation based on visual cues, and learning model for interesting object identification, will be implemented. Through effective dissemination, a large number of local IT companies in the fields of information retrieval, multimedia processing, web search engine and video indexing will be able to benefit from this project.
